COPPERAS COVE – Copperas Cove ISD continues to shine, maintaining its “B” rating from the Texas Education Agency.
Friday, the TEA released accountability ratings for Texas public schools in 2025, where CCISD earned a “B” rating for the fourth-straight year. Additionally, all 11 campuses met state standards and eight CCISD campuses earned a “B” rating or better.
Martin Walker Elementary earned an “A” rating for the third time in four years, with a grade of 91.
Seven campuses earned a “B” rating, with Copperas Cove High School earning a grade of 89. Williams/Ledger Elementary improved to a “B” in 2025, joining CCHS, Clements/Parsons Elementary, Fairview/Jewell Elementary, House Creek Elementary, Mae Stevens Early Learning Academy and Crossroads High School.
Hettie Halstead Elementary, Copperas Cove Jr. High and S.C. Lee Jr. High each received high “C” ratings.
“Copperas Cove ISD continues prove itself as the premiere district of choice in central Texas,” said Superintendent Dr. Brent Hawkins. “These ratings could not happen without the hard work put in every single day by every student, teacher and staff member in our district. And, while I’m proud of these results, what I’m more proud of is the work our staff does on a daily basis to not just educate our students, but to create a safe, warm environment for them to come to every day.”
In addition to ratings, the TEA announced 18 distinctions earned by six of CCISD’s nine eligible campuses.
Copperas Cove High School earned a distinction for Postsecondary Readiness, based on its graduating class of 2024 earning 98% College, Career & Military Readiness.
Copperas Cove Jr. High School earned a distinction for Academic Achievement in Mathematics.
S.C. Lee Jr. High School earned two distinctions: Academic Achievement in Social Studies and Top 25%: Comparative Closing the Gaps.
Clements/Parsons Elementary earned four distinctions: Academic Achievement in Mathematics, Top 25%: Comparative Academic Growth, Postsecondary Readiness and Top 25%: Comparative Closing the Gaps.
Fairview/Jewell Elementary and Martin Walker Elementary each earned five of six possible distinctions: Academic Achievement in Reading/Language Arts, Academic Achievement in Mathematics, Top 25%: Comparative Academic Growth, Postsecondary Readiness, Top 25%: Comparative Closing the Gaps.
“These results are a direct reflection of the exceptional work happening in the classrooms across our district,” said Deputy Superintendent of Instructional Services Amanda Crawley. “Our students, teachers and campus leaders have not only outperformed many surrounding districts, but have also exceeded state and regional averages, highlighting that CCISD prioritizes academics at all levels. These ratings show that when we work together in a focused and intentional way toward providing strong instruction day in and day out, our students thrive.”
While CCISD released its 2024 state accountability in April, the TEA released 2024 distinctions Friday.
As a district, Copperas Cove ISD earned its only possible distinction: Postsecondary Readiness. Eight of nine eligible campuses earned at least one distinction.
Fairview/Jewell Elementary earned all six possible distinctions: Academic Achievement in Reading/Language Arts, Academic Achievement in Mathematics, Academic Achievment in Science, Top 25%: Comparative Academic Growth, Postsecondary Readiness and Top 25%: Comparative Closing the Gaps.
