Beginning Band is an elective intended for students interested in playing and performing on musical instruments with little or no prior knowledge.  This class is for students wishing to participate in band at the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.  Students must be tested by a band director prior to the start of the school year to help determine which instrument they are best suited to play.  Instrument selection will be determined by the director with the interest of the student in mind.  This course introduces students to UIL (University Interscholastic League) rules and regulations.

When your child has been assigned an instrument, make sure to look for a quality instrument.  You can visit the local music store as they have rent to own programs and work with every budget.  Those selected to play percussion have a very specific list of materials required for beginning band.

Welcome to the largest organization on the Copperas Cove Junior High School campus.  Becoming part of the Bullpup Band can be one of the most rewarding experiences as you learn to play an instrument for the first time and make many new friends along the way!  If you already have your instruments, bring them to school each day!  If you still need to get your instrument, you must get one by September 1, 2023.  If you or your parents have any questions or concerns about getting an instrument, please feel free to talk to Mr. Stewart, Ms. Kelley, or Mrs. Travis in person, by telephone or through e-mail.  We want this to be a positive and rewarding experience for you and look forward to welcoming you to the Pride of Cove Band Family!
